In 2002 the National Catholic Rural Life Conference (NCRLC) and the Center of Concern (CoC) launched the Agribusiness Action Initiatives (formerly the Agribusiness Accountability Initiative) (AAI) network. AAI strives to address corporate power and concentration in the global food and agriculture system. AAI was launched at a forum in Chicago in October 2002. Over 60 participants from the US and Europe attended. Regional Fora followed in Asia, Europe, Latin America and Africa and by 2007 AAI evolved from an essentially U.S. and European network with several representatives from the Global South into an international network with representative participation from farmers, labor, environmentalists, consumers, health groups, faith-based groups, development activists and other AAI stakeholder groups around the world. AAI is comprised of four regional networks: Asia, Europe, Latin America, and North America. Regional facilitators act as contact points in each of the regions. For further information on regional activities and working groups please see the regional sections, accessed via the map below. |
